Derek Skirata's backstory: Old or New?
New:
Derek Skirata (Mandalorian birth name unknown at this point [gotta come
up with a better name while looking up the Mando'a dictionary]) was
born to his father A'denn Gra'tua Skirata & mother (name unknown),
both Mandalorian warriors.
A'denn trained Derek for years & realized that Derek could have
Force potential. However he knew the Jedi Order wouldn't really accept
Derek so he found a former Jedi who was also a former Dark Jedi (who is
now a Grey Jedi) to train Derek in the ways of the Force &
lightsaber combat. Derek grew to be a powerful Force-sensitive
Mandalorian (marksmanship training from his father) but he suffered a
devastating loss when he found out that his father was killed by Count
Dooku in the Battle of Galidraan. When Derek found out that Dooku was a
former Jedi now turned into a Sith Lord (upon learning about the Sith
manipulating the Mandalorians & almost leading to their extinction
in the Mandalorian Wars), Derek vowed to fight against the Sith &
Dark Jedi & avenge his father. During a mission/job, he met a Jedi
named Soul Ry'thm & saved her from other Jedi students bullying her
& since then they bonded & became a team. Teaming up with his
younger brother
A'denn Gra'tua "Myles" Skirata II years earlier, they fought to forge
an unlikely
alliance with the Jedi Order with a new Mandalorian group, the
Force-sensitive Mandalorians, to stop the Sith from taking over the
galaxy while gaining the honor & glory from battle.
Old:
Derek Skirata (Mandalorian birth name Jetii Kad'au Skirata) was born to his
father A'denn Gra'tua Skirata (Mandalorian warrior) & mother Tia
Kara-Skirata (Alderaanian soldier). Given to the Order a year old,
Derek was trained by Jedi Master Cin Drallig after a short while as a
Youngling. Upon hearing of his father's death at the hands of the
former Jedi (now Sith Lord) Count Dooku at the Battle of Galidraan,
Derek will to fight against any dark sider grew stronger. With his
father's holocrons, books, & other information on Mandalorian
culture, he trained himself to be a sharpshooter with his blaster
pistols while he trained to be an excellent swordsman. During the Clone
Wars, Derek discovered & met his brother A'denn Gra'tua "Myles"
Skirata II & they teamed up to fight against the Sith & CIS.
Myles willingly joined Derek after explaining his betrayal from a Dark
Jedi. When Order 66 was issued, Derek faked his death to escape from
the Clone Troopers & was devastated to hear the loss of his master
Cin Drallig & his love Serra Keto. He was thankful to hear that his
best friend Soul Ry'thm survived. Since the rise of the Empire, Derek
& Myles took several missions to bring down the Empire in the early
days of the Rebel Alliance.
